Malaria Turmoil In Mumbai Comment

07/22/2008:
Mumbai , India has reported cases of Malaria. The death toll from Malaria has been increasing over the past couple of days. More then 9 people have died over the last week because of Malaria. During a survey of F South and North wards, around 100 mosquito breeding spots were discovered. Lot of nearby construction sites have been found with water stagnation which is a breeding ground for mosquitos.

Walt Disney To Invest In UTV Software Communications Ltd Comment

Walt Disney Company (Southeast Asia) Pte Ltd. (TWDC), a subsidiary of The Walt Disney Company, has announced intention to invest into UTV Software Communications Ltd. (UTV) and UTV Global Broadcasting Ltd. (UGBL). UGBL is the parent company for its two wholly owned subsidiaries, Genx Entertainment and UTV Entertainment Television Ltd.

Air India Flight From Delhi To New York Comment

02/08/2008:
Air India today launched the first non stop flight from Delhi to New York over the North Pole. Air India is using the newly developed 238 seater aircraft Boeing 777-200 Longer Range aircraft which is configured with 8 seats in first class, 35 seats in executive class and 195 seats in economy class with fully flat beds in the First and Executive Classes.

Tata Chemicals acquires Soda Manufacturing Company Comment

On the anniversary of the Corus acquisition, Tata Chemicals has announced the acquisition of a US soda ash manufacturing company named General Chemical Industrial Products (GCIP). This will give Tata Chemicals more access to global customers and access to low cost soda ash.

BigAdda Launched Comment

The demand and popularity of Social Networking is growing day by with new website promising more features and less ads. Only time will tell who will come out ahead. Recently a new social networking site, BigAdda, was launced packed with features like send friend requests on the wireless, have discussions in as many as eight different languages, plus more. Will BigAdda give a new challenge to already established social networking websites like Orkut and Facebook?

BSNL ties up with SOMA for WiMax Comment

01/27/2008:
BSNL (Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd) has signed US firm SOMA Networks to deploy the world’s largest mobile WiMax network in India. It's a project with both parties will benefit from the revenues, SOMA has agreed to provide the technology to BSNL. Mobile WiMax will be rolled out in Gujarat, Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh and make avaialble wireless broadband coverage to nearly 200 million people over the next 3 years. This will make it the first deployment of mobile WiMax per the 802.16e standard.

Bird Flu West Bengal Comment

01/24/2008:
Bird flu has hit West Bengal hard and the Authorities are having a hard time controlling it from spreading. Authorities fears that the bird flu could reach big cities like Kolkata. Currently the bird flu has been reported in nine of West Bengal's 19 districts with new reports that are coming from other districts. Indonesian man died who had tested positive for the H5N1 bird flu virus and the virus has also resurfaced in Europe.

Delhi Gurgaon expressway open for public Comment

01/23/2008:
Delhi Gurgaon expressway open for public. The much awaited Delhi Gurgaon expressway was inaugurated by the Union Minister TR Baalu and Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda. The road was constructed at the cost of Rs 1,000 crore and measures 27 km. The expressway will cut the commute from India's capital Delhi to Gurgaon about an hour. Toll will be collected to pay for the expressway and its maintenance.

Reliance Power Ltd IPO Comment

01/04/2008:
Reliance Power Ltd (RPL) will be offering its initial public offering this month and which will be the largest by any Indian company to date. The IPO was announced by Chairman, Mr Anil Ambani. The IPO will raise as much as Rs 11,500 crore of capital with the issue opening on January 15 and closes January 18. RPL is a subsidiary of Reliance Energy Ltd (REL) and owns 50 percent stake in the company. Part of the raised captial will be used to build six power projects across India.
