Abu Dhabi Investment Council Buys Chrysler Building Comment

07/10/2008:
An Abu Dhabi Investment Council, based in Abu Dhabi has bought the Chrysler Building, New York's best known skyscrapers, for 800 million dollars. The 77 story Art Deco skyscraper is located in Midtown Manhattan opposite Grand Central station. The The Chrysler Building was designed by the architect William Van Alen and built between 1928 and 1930. The building was declared a historic monument in 1976 and was built for the Chrysler car company. The fund has over 800 billion dollars of assets and has also recently made a 7.5 billion dollar investment in Citigroup. Many Middle East nations have great access to capital from their oil profit and hence are looking for real estate assets overseas. Just last month, General Motors building located on Fifth Avenue was bought by Investors from Dubai , Kuwait and Qatar for 2.8 billion dollars.

Walt Disney To Invest In UTV Software Communications Ltd Comment

Walt Disney Company (Southeast Asia) Pte Ltd. (TWDC), a subsidiary of The Walt Disney Company, has announced intention to invest into UTV Software Communications Ltd. (UTV) and UTV Global Broadcasting Ltd. (UGBL). UGBL is the parent company for its two wholly owned subsidiaries, Genx Entertainment and UTV Entertainment Television Ltd.

Hotmail Sabeer Bhatia Launches SabSeBolo Comment

Founder of Hotmail, Sabeer Bhatia, recently announced the launch of a new service within India called SabSeBolo.com . SabSeBolo.com will be India's first free audio conferencing reservation system. In order to use the service, a user will log on to SabSebolo.com and enter your email id and password and in return will be given a permanent conference id and a pin. Then user call +91 223980 4444 and using the conference id and pin can start the conference.

Reliance Power Ltd IPO Comment

01/04/2008:
Reliance Power Ltd (RPL) will be offering its initial public offering this month and which will be the largest by any Indian company to date. The IPO was announced by Chairman, Mr Anil Ambani. The IPO will raise as much as Rs 11,500 crore of capital with the issue opening on January 15 and closes January 18. RPL is a subsidiary of Reliance Energy Ltd (REL) and owns 50 percent stake in the company. Part of the raised captial will be used to build six power projects across India.

Benazir Bhutto Assassinated Comment

12/27/2007:
Benazir Bhutto, former Prime Minister of Pakistan, was killed after a campaign rally in the city of Rawalpindi where she had just finished giving an address to her supporters. She was taken to Rawalpindi General Hospital where surgeons were unable to save her. The attacker first fired at her and then blew himself up, killing Bhutto and 15 to 20 other bystanders. Bhutto had recently returned back to Pakistan after her exile.

High amount of rain in Britin Comment

07/23/2007:
High amount of rain has caused the worst flooding to hit the Britin in 60 years. Now the River Thames is on the verge of bursting its banks. A lot of the roads were submerged in water with trains suspended and buses cancelled. Hundreds of hours are left without electricity or drinking water.

The famous Madame Tussauds will soon be opening in Washington D.C. It is currently under construction and is scheduled to open in October. The museum will feature was statues of George W. Bush, Hillary Clinton, and many more US personalities.

Earthquake struck Japan Comment

07/16/2007:
A 6.8 magnitude earthquake struck Japan on Monday, killing eight people while injuring hundreds of people. The quake also caused fire and radioactive water leak at the world's largest nuclear plant, Kashiwazaki. The day of the quake was Marine Day, a national holiday in Japan.

The iPhone will launch today at 6:00PM all over the USA. The service for the phone will be exculsivly provided by AT\&T. The phone is marking the next big product from Apple after the much successful iPod. Hundreds of gadget fans have already lined up to get there hands on this new phone which mixes the regular phone with capabilities like playing music and video, Web browsing, and many more. It is priced at $499 (4GB model) and $599 (8GB), which does not include the phone plan to be provided by AT\&T from $60 to $100 a month.

Apple's iPhone to be launched on Friday, June 29 at 6:00 pm Eastern time (2200 GMT). The new device from Apple promises to bring together mobile phone, camera, web browser, music and video player in a single pocket-sized personal unit. AT\&T is the sole telecoms carrier authorized to provide service for the iPhone. The iPhone will sell for $499 or $599 depending on the model.

An Atlanta lawyer has been diagonsed with a dangerous strain of tuberculosis. He is now under quarantine in a Denver hospital as ordered by the U.S. government.


05/31/2007:
Xiang Xiang, first panda bred in captivity, died after less then a year after being released in the wild in China. Central China mountain forests contain about 1,600 wild pandas.
